This Wednesday, March 1, high school juniors throughout the district have the opportunity to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test during the school day. SAT School Day is offered to make the three-and-a-half-hour exam available to all students. Typically the SAT is offered on Saturdays for a fee. All VPS juniors are preregistered to take the test for free on Wednesday.

This is the second year that VPS has provided the test on a school day. The weekday offering promotes a college-going culture and removes financial and other barriers such as transportation, or work and family-related commitments that may prevent students from participating in the Saturday testing.

The SAT offers a range of benefits to students including opening doors to college. The admission test is accepted by all U.S. colleges, and the College Board has programs to encourage all students to take advantage of higher education. Income-eligible SAT takers receive college application fee waivers and all students can opt in to Student Search Service® to receive free information about admission and financial aid from colleges, universities, and scholarship programs.
