Seeking volunteers to do ongoing copying, collating, cutting, laminating, bulletin boards, etc. We would like volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly day and time so that staff members can plan accordingly. You can choose the day and time that work for you. Interested? Please contact Dani Kala (dani.kala@vansd.org), our volunteer coordinator.

We welcome opportunities to partner with our local churches, community organizations, individuals and businesses. When the community and schools partner together to support student learning, gaps are filled, bridges are built and the students along with their families are strengthened. This weaves a beautiful fabric of unity amongst the larger community.

There are many ways that we can partner with community members and businesses: Learning partnerships with the school, recruiting students for volunteer or internship opportunities, mentoring, donating (food, school supplies, laundry soap, gas gift cards, food/drink gift cards, backpacks, water bottles, hygiene items), and adopting youth or families during the holidays.

These partnerships help provide students with access to services and needs that otherwise would create barriers for daily living and school access as well as success. We all thrive when individuals and groups come together to step-up and into an “It takes a village” mindset in action.

If you are interested in creating a partnership with the Heights Campus, please contact Chvonne Wardrop at chvonne.wardrop@vansd.org or 360-313-4854.

We are in need of a person to be our box tops coordinator. You would organize, advertise and count box tops and submit four times in a school year. This will get easier with time since it is going digital and Amy Temme has already done the first one. If you are interested, please contact Susan Normington at 360-607-4012.

In the past the PTO has paid for the Oregon Zoo and OMSI to come to the school and give presentations. We are looking for ideas besides these for the next school year. Please email your ideas.
